The Timeless nostalgia of Analogue Film, Shot Seamlessly Alongside Your Digital wedding Day

There is something irreplaceable about film. The organic grain, the rich skin tones, the way it handles bright afternoon sun, it has a classic, tactile feel that digital can mimic, but never quite replicate.

If you love the authentic, nostalgic look of analogue photography and want a handful of physical memories to hold in your hands long after the wedding day is over, you can add 35mm film coverage directly to your wedding package.

How It Works

  • Shot Alongside Digital: You don’t have to choose between digital and film. I shoot your film rolls seamlessly throughout the day alongside my main digital coverage, using classic mechanical cameras.

  • Lab Developed & Scanned: Once the day wraps, your rolls are posted securely to a professional lab where they are hand-developed and scanned into high-resolution TIFF files for me to edit. So your photos will look crisp, rich, and full of depth.

  • Delivered in Your Gallery: Your high-res film scans are integrated directly into your private online gallery alongside your digital photos.

  • Your Physical Negatives to Keep: You get to keep your original physical film negatives in protective sleeves. It is a true heirloom to tuck away or display.

Colour vs. Black & White

You can choose individual rolls or pick one of my bundle packages. Here is how they work across a wedding day:

  • Colour Film (e.g., Kodak Portra / Gold / ColourPlus):

    • Ideal for: Morning prep details, outdoor couple portraits, golden hour light, and natural daylight ceremony moments. It delivers soft, rich tones and stunning natural skin warmth.

  • Black & White Film (e.g., Ilford HP5 / Kodak Tri-X):

    • Ideal for: Emotional candid moments, quiet morning nerves, dramatic speeches, and late-night party/dance floor shots with flash. It focuses purely on contrast, texture, and raw emotion.

FAQs

Do we have to choose between digital and film?

1

You get the best of both worlds! I shoot your film rolls seamlessly alongside my main digital coverage. Digital handles the fast-paced, low-light, and reliable volume of your day, while film adds that rich, nostalgic, tactile layer of texture and depth.

How many pictures are on a roll of film, and how many will we get?

2

Each standard roll of 35mm film captures 36 intentional, carefully framed shots. If you choose the 3-Roll Highlight Bundle, you’ll get around 108 exposures; with the 5-Roll Storyteller Bundle, you'll receive around 180 extra frames woven directly into your main digital gallery.

When will our film photos be ready?

3

Because film requires physical handling, postal lab processing, and high-resolution scanning, film scans take an extra 2 to 3 weeks following delivery of your wedding gallery. They will be added directly into your main online gallery once they're ready.

Can we mix and match colour and black & white film?

4

Yes, absolutely. You can choose a custom mix of both. Colour stock (like Kodak Portra) is gorgeous for daytime portraits and golden hour warmth, while Black & White stock (like Ilford HP5) brings a timeless, high-contrast mood to emotional moments and evening parties. We can finalise your exact mix during our final pre-wedding call!

What happens if a roll runs out or something goes wrong with the film?

5

Film has its own organic quirks, and part of its charm is its unpredictability. Though I treat every roll with strict professional care and partner with a trusted specialist lab. Because film is shot in addition to your comprehensive digital coverage, you are never relying on film alone to capture your key moments.

What cameras do you use to shoot film?

6

I shoot on classic, proven 35mm analogue cameras. Including the legendary Nikon F3 with fast prime lenses, the Pentax Spotmatic as a back up, and a compact camera for direct-flash reception moments.

Using classic manual cameras allows me to control exposure and focus precisely, ensuring you get authentic 35mm film quality while maintaining smooth, reliable coverage alongside my modern digital gear.

Will shooting film interrupt or slow down the flow of our wedding day?

7

Unlike modern fast autofocus digital photography, shooting analogue film is naturally a slightly slower, more deliberate process. But that's its greatest strength. It requires me to pause, observe, and compose with complete intent, whilst watching for the perfect light and the decisive moment before clicking the shutter.

It seamlessly complements my documentary approach, allowing me to capture quiet, thoughtful, authentic moments without ever pulling you away from the party.
